Pictured is a set of modern high back lounge chairs we designed and created for a client. They are upholstered and the fabric was provided by the designer. The client loved the design of the chairs but the ones she found retail weren’t the right color and not that comfortable. Based on our design and her color preference we create these chairs.
T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings furniture design was inspired by the classic forms of the Ancient Greek style and interpreted with a contemporary twist from the mid-twentieieth century. This is a pair of custom lounge chairs we created for a client in New York City. They are made out of solid white oak and upholstered with a natural linen fabric. As per the client’s request, the front legs were modified and the seat height is 36″. To read more about Robsjohn Gibbings click here
This Grecian style chair is one of a set of four chairs that were inspired by the forms of the Greek klismos. Located at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, the set of four chairs is a recreation of a large original dining set that was created for a suite in James Madison’s White House and that were lost in a fire in 1820.
Here is another version of the T. H. Robsjohn-Gibbings we created for a client in East Hampton, Long Island. The house is located on the beach and they wanted light, modern lounge chairs for their living room. These chairs are popular with many different interior design styles and we have done different versions of it. To see other options see here and here.
Pictured is an interior designed by Bruce Glickman and Wilson Henley featured on Elle Decore LookBook’s website. Here we can see a great set of vintage T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings dining chairs that were incorporated into design and also a pair Robsjohn-Gibbings slipper chairs in the living room. The slipper chairs are slightly different from the set we completed with a double cushion versus our design which had a single cushion. The solid wood with the natural finish present a nice compliment to the light fabric and give the chairs warmth, yet feel modern. Another set of the custom slipper chairs with a slightly different style can be viewed here. The chairs offer a great deal of flexibility for designers to match existing styles and also look gorgeous in a wide range of fabrics and finishes. With a lacquer finish the Robsjohn Gibbings chairs can fit seamlessly into a modern or art deco style interior.
Pictured is a New York Residence designed by TsAO & McKOWN Architects. The double cushion lounge chair has the same style as the pair of Kirstin Horlin Holmquist lounge chairs we created last month (side and rear angles are here). When creating a custom seating furniture piece, the fabric as well as the upholstery style play an important roll in the final design style that the client wants to achieve. The lounge chair in the picture features solid oak legs, a double cushion and mohair fabric. It is elegant, casual and cozy. For the pair of lounge chairs we created, the client wanted to have more natural exposed wood with a single cushion. The upholstery was done in a silk fabric and we were able to create a set of chairs that balanced elegance and luxury while still keeping a clean, contemporary look.
