Neoclassical custom dining table with extension leaves

By | March 19th, 2012|Dining Space, Dining Tables, French Hand Polish, Neoclassical, Veneering work|

Pictured is a custom neoclassical dining table we completed for a client on Central Park West last week.  The table measured 8 feet without the extension leaves, 9 1/2 feet with one extension and 11 feet with two extension leaves.  The table was created out of mahagony and featured ribbon maogany veneer, lacewood veneer and custom extension leaves.  Clients in New York City hire ERA Interiors to create and design custom high end dining tables to fit rooms which vary in size.  This table has three lengths which make it a versatile option for dinner parties of different sizes, and we created a custom storage solution for the leaves to be stored inside in the table when not in use.

REGENCY FURNITURE

By | February 16th, 2011|all, Benches, French Hand Polish, Living Space, Regency, SEATING, Veneering work|

Regency furniture was strongly influenced by clean lines and was inspired from the ancient Greek and Roman styles.

The Regency style tends to have gilded and hand carved furniture with brass, inlays and trim.  The forms and detailed elements are emphasized and exaggerated and also are influenced from Egyptian, Oriental and medieval Gothic styles.
Pictured is a characteristic Regency sofa in rosewood veneer, one of the favorite featured materials used during the Regency period. There  are other pieces such as the Spoon back chairs, regency stools, extension tables and the gilt-decorated Greek style couch that influence modern, contemporary interior design.

WOOD DINING ROOM TABLE

By | December 9th, 2010|all, Designs, Dining Tables, French Hand Polish, Spanish, Tables, Veneering work|

Creating custom veneer patterns and incorporating them into a piece of furniture can be an original design. This dining table was made out of solid walnut and features a geometric pattern on the table top. It was given a french hand polish finish. The use of veneering on custom furniture is a great way to add a unique design by matching a similar wood grain to other existing pieces to blend in the space.

ART DECO DINING TABLE

By | December 8th, 2010|all, Art Deco, Dining Space, Dining Tables, Veneering work|

This is an increasingly popular style for an Art Deco dining table we designed for a store in the design district in Miami.    The base is a custom design drawn from two deco tables the interior designer provided us with (below).  He liked the curve of the base panning up to a straight edge where the legs rest on the flat surface (pictured below left), and the subtle inward curves of the legs on the table to the lower right.  The legs are sort of a combination of both styles, as well as the base integrating elements from each table.   The last component was the how the wood grain would look, they had a furniture set with black ebony veneer inlay and loved how the grain was straight rather than the veneers on the two tables they provided us.  This dining table is the perfect example of how anything is impossible, in terms of incorporating a variety of ideas, in order to create a one of a kind piece of furniture.
