Here is another version of a Klismos chair brought into our studio for production. The client likes the shape but would like a new fabric and another matching chair for a set. Having an original is always the best, however not always possible.
This version of the Klismos, especially the seatback is quite popular and looks great in a number of different of variations. We’ve done several klismos chairs over the years including this ebonized version and here is an extended discussion on it with several other variations.
These is a beautiful use of a set of Andre Arbus dining chairs. We’ve done several versions of Andre Arbus inspired chairs over the years for designers. The Arbus chairs are iconic and incorporate a variety of elements including legs similar to one version of the ever popular Greek influenced Klismos dining chair.
This hand made side chair was inspired by the original Greek Klismos chair form the ancient Greece. The Klismos is one of the most influential furniture piece that appear centuries later in chairs like the one on the left as well as chairs of the Directoire, Empire, Regency, Duncan Phyfe and even modern styles like T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings.
